Rider and trike, face shown, by the family's agreement
Story to follow
A family's own words about the first ride, shared with written consent.
Very probably, yes.
Children who need a trike. Adults getting back on a bike after a stroke or an amputation. People who have been told riding isn't for them. Most of the time it is, once the bike is fitted to the rider rather than the other way round.
There's no checkout on this page. It starts with a conversation, at whatever pace suits you.

A rider on a trike outside the shop, shown with written consent
We have been fitting bikes and trikes to disabled riders for years, alongside the commuter and gravel work on the same shop floor. It is a proper part of the business, not a sideline.
If you're not sure whether your situation fits, ask. The worst that happens is an honest answer, and usually the answer is that something can be done.

Every story here is told with the family's written consent, at the level of identification they choose: full name, first name only, or initials, with or without a photograph. Nothing goes live without that. Stories are being gathered now and will appear here as families agree.

We keep a small core range rather than a catalogue, because every bike or trike here is practically bespoke once it has been fitted. The rider comes first; the product is chosen and adjusted around them.

Not sure which of these is right? That's normal, and it's not your job to know. Tell us about the rider and we'll suggest what to try.
Three steps, taken at the rider's pace. Nobody is rushed and nothing is decided until it feels right.
Email or come in. Tell us about the rider: age, what they can do now, what they'd like to be able to do, and anything a therapist has said. We'll listen, ask a few questions, and say honestly what we think might work.
The rider comes to the shop and tries a bike or trike with us. We adjust it on the spot: seat, reach, pedals, supports. If it isn't right, we try something else. Bring whoever you'd like to have with you.
Once it fits, it's yours, and we stay on hand. Riders grow and needs change, so come back for adjustments as often as you need to.
If you're a therapist, an occupational therapist or a teacher, you already know the rider well. We're the people who make the bike fit what you know.

We work with families, charities, schools and health or social work budgets, case by case, to find a funding route. There isn't one answer that fits everyone, so we'll look at your situation with you and help with the paperwork where we can.
Ask early, even before you know exactly what you want. It's easier to shape a plan around a rider than to fit a rider into a plan.
Tell us a little about the rider and how to reach you. We'll reply properly, not with a sales pitch, and we'll go at your pace from there.
Prefer to email directly? adaptive@clydebankcycles.co.uk comes straight to the people who do the fitting.
Or come in. We're at 14 Kilbowie Road, Clydebank, G81 1LG, Monday to Saturday 9:00 to 17:30.
